Round 1 Recap

Good evening members,

Round one is done and dusted. Firstly I would like to congratulate Grant Hill for winning three races from three starts, what a way to start a defence on a championship.

Nightmasters are always a special race because it really is a spectacle to watch. Brake discs glowing red hot, exhausts shooting flames, watching headlights trade places in the dark, also the number of people watching and staying until the end was very uplifting and promising for the category.

It began with qualifying in the afternoon, after a short warm up and some flying laps later, the session was red flagged when Mark Conacher spun on some oil coming out of turn 5 and putting his GTR into the wall. After a short delay we were back out there with Grant Hill grabbing pole with a 59.640. Next from WASSSCA was Daniel Devries in his very purple Porsche 996 with a 1:05.442. Cade Bell in his Mazda RX7 was next with a 1:06.697. Full times will be below.

- Grant Hill - 59.640

- Daniel Devries - 1:05.442

- Cade Bell - 1:06.697

- Laurie Whittome- 1:07.970

Race one - Three cars made it to the start line for Sports Sedans and Sports Cars, they were Grant Hill, Daniel Devries and Cade Bell. Laurie Whittome struck mechanical trouble and was unable to take part.

Grant Stormed away from the line and ran a fairly uneventful race, mainly running in the 59 second bracket before easing it home for a comfortable win in race one. Meanwhile behind him, Cade and Daniel were battling it out for second and third, great racing to watch with Daniel coming home in second and Cade only four thenths behind him for a close third.

Race two - Grant again raced away unchallenged with consistancy again being key with 5 of the 8 were in the 60s, and the other two were in the 61s. Daniel Devries was largely unchallenged due to Cade Bell unfortunately blowing his gearbox off the start line, in which he ultimately decide to retire the car for the evening

Race three. You guessed it, Grant runs away for race win number three. Again he was lapping very consistently in the 59 seconds for most of the race while Daniel Devries was battling with the street cars for outright position on track finishing second , which was entertaining to watch for the loyal supporters who had stayed for the evening.

Hopfully the guy's that had mechanical problems will be back for the next round along with a few others whom will have there cars ready now.

Thank you to the sponsors for their continued support as well as all crew members for all the cars, all the supporters for watching us and the drivers for putting on a show for everyone. We hope to see you all for Round 2 on March 17th for the second Night Masters round.
